Meeting Minutes 1-5-17
NE GA Amateur Radio Club

Meeting called to order by the President at 7:30 pm

Total of 9 people present, guests and members.

Our Dues for 2017 are due now. Please mail them to our PO Box this month. See club website for complete info.

Treasury report. Current cash in bank is $155.30

Committee Reports:

Repeater: Doing great. Janna and family replaced the roof on the repeater building. Great job and much appreciated.

Bob states we are registered but need to pay SERA.

Bob Herrin is now the registered agent and trustee for the repeater.

We must get emergency power for the repeater.

Options were discussed for internet to get the digital mode. Bob will contact close by cell companies to see if they might donate this to the club.

Public Service:

Nothing planned  but Bob reached out to Classic Race Services for opportunities.
Jackson County EMA is in need of a new director as Steve Nichols has left.
We are getting new equipment for trailer from the county.

Next ARES meeting 3rd Tuesday

Skywarn:

Big snow expected. Use the online page to report inches of snow at your location.

Skywarn class Jan. 31st 6 pm in Homer GA

We must find the power source to provide emergency power to our repeater.

100 AMP hour battery needed.

2017 Activities:

Field Day June 24-25th

GA QSO Party  April 8-9 Do we want to participate and have a picnic? Maybe with family members included.

Radio contest as a club might be fun and good to do.

How about a FOX Hunt?

ARES State Meeting Jan. 21st

Tech Fest Jan 14th in Gwinnett County

Winter Field Day event Jan 28th

We need help to get programs for all 12 months. Please give ideas and support. Bob Herrin suggested a program on Antennas
Our VP David McElhannon had surgery for bladder cancer.
Program for March planned by Dick to be 160 meters
Motion made to adjourn at 8:30 by Bob Herrin and 2nd by Frank Charpiat.
Dick Ashworth  adjourned and released the group.
