NORTHEAST GEORGIA AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (NEGARC)
May 2016 Meeting – Minutes

The meeting was called to order by NEGARC President Dick Ashworth WB4HXF on 5 May 2016 in the Board Room of the Commerce Public Library.

Reports:

Treasurer:
Not available as Frank N4KP was not present.

Repeaters:
Jim K4LCP was not present, but had asked Dick WB4HXF to report that the repeaters are working well.
Roof leaks at the repeater site were discussed again. One of the guests attending stated they had materials that should be adequate for the job. Dick will get them in touch with Jim K4LCP.

Public Service:
Bob KE4JLL was not present. Dick WB4HXF recapped upcoming events:
7 May (Sat.), Athens Twilight 5K
4 June (Sat.), Jackson Brevet
22 June (Wed.), Commerce Public Library Program

ARES:
Bob KE4JLL was not present. Dick WB4HXF reminded everyone of upcoming activities:
A Jackson-Banks ARES meeting will be held on 10 May (Tue.) at the EOC in downtown Jefferson at 6:30 pm.
The Region E Full-Scale Exercise is 3 June (Fri.) and will be discussed further at the ARES meeting.

Skywarn:
Dick WB4HXF reported that there had not been a local weather net called.

Program:
Dick WB4HXF discussed various methods and tools for learning CW. Emphasis was placed on practice.

Old Business:
ARRL Field Day 2016 (25-26 June): Dick WB4HXF informed everyone that a schedule will be made to better organize and utilize the equipment and operators over the 24 hours of operation.

New Business:
Dick WB4HXF stated that he would be located at Black Rock Mountain State Park for the upcoming ARRL June VHF Contest on 11 June (Sat.).
Guests in attendance from the North Georgia GMRS Network were welcomed and recognized. Several of them expressed an interest in attending classes so that they could obtain their Technician license. Dick WB4HXF informed them of the Athens Radio Club testing schedule and invited them to come back to future NEGARC meetings.

The next meeting was announced for 2 June 2016 at the Commerce Public Library.
A motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
